Roofing and Renovation Contractors: Can a Car Sticker Build Homeowner Trust?
Homeowners hire contractors they already recognise. A neighbourhood car sticker starts at $500 a month for 2 cars. Here is how to use it well.
Yes, a car sticker can work for a roofing or renovation contractor, because homeowners hire for big jobs on trust and familiarity, and a Lunar circle sticker keeps your company name in front of the streets you serve. Plans start at $500 a month for two cars, with no extra fee for the sticker.
Why contractors fit local advertising
A roof, a kitchen or a basement is one of the largest purchases a household makes, and almost nobody hires on a whim. They ask a neighbour, check reviews, and get two or three quotes. The company whose name they already recognise from around the neighbourhood tends to get the first call, or at least a fair look.
Contractors also work in tight patches. Crews drive to the same few suburbs again and again, and a finished job on one street often leads to the next door down. Advertising that stays inside those neighbourhoods suits that pattern better than a broad campaign that pays to reach people you will never serve.
What a Lunar sticker is, and is not
A Lunar sticker is a small circle on the door of an everyday driver's car. It carries your name and one short message, plus a small QR code. You choose where the code sends people: your website, a phone number or an email address. Lunar counts scans and nothing more. It does not track calls, emails or visits, so keep your own tally of where enquiries come from.
It is awareness, not a lead form. It will not replace your reviews, your photos of finished work or your quote process. What it does is make your name familiar before a homeowner starts searching, which can make every other channel work a little harder.
Reach, as an estimate
The industry estimate for a wrapped vehicle on the road is up to 70,000 impressions a day, the top of the range credited to the OAAA and published by AdQuick and 4OVER4. Lunar applies that figure to every car. It is an estimate, not a count of people who looked, and a door circle is smaller than a full wrap. On that basis a car comes to about 2,100,000 estimated impressions in a 30-day month.
The Half Moon plan (2 cars, $500 a month) works out to an estimated 4,200,000 impressions a month, about $0.12 per thousand. Full Moon (7 cars, $1,500 a month) works out to an estimated 14,700,000, about $0.10 per thousand. The two plans differ only in the number of cars and the price. Billboards and digital ads are usually priced higher per thousand, though the formats are not the same.
How a contractor can use it well
- Keep the design to your company name and one line, such as the trade and the area. A circle is read in a glance from the next lane.
- Send the QR code to a quote request page or a phone number. A homeowner with a leaking roof wants to talk to someone today.
- Set target areas on the map around the neighbourhoods where you already have finished jobs and where your crews drive daily.
- Start before your busy season. Roofing and exterior work cluster in warmer months, so being familiar in spring means being remembered when the calls start.
- Add a line to your intake call: "How did you hear about us?" and note "saw your car" when it comes up.
What it costs and how billing works
Plans are Half Moon at $500 a month for 2 cars and Full Moon at $1,500 a month for 7 cars, on a 3- or 6-month term. A six-month term is 10% off every month for the same number of cars. Lunar's team makes the sticker design and you approve it before anything is printed. Details are on the pricing page.
Apart from the $50 deposit, nothing is charged until your first sticker is on a driver's car. The deposit is taken once per city when you tap Start matching. It counts toward your plan, or it is refunded if no driver accepts within 7 days. After that each slot is billed when its sticker is on a car and the install photo is approved, and the 30-day clock only runs while a car is carrying the sticker.
How the drivers are found
Lunar's team matches drivers to businesses offer by offer. A driver has 48 hours to accept or decline, and once a driver accepts, the match is final and the sticker goes to print. The driver installs it from the instructions in the kit and sends a photo that a person reviews, then sends photos and an odometer reading each week. More on the process is on the how it works page.
Is it right for your company?
If your work comes from referrals and local reputation, a sticker that builds familiarity across your service area is a reasonable fit. If you mostly take large commercial contracts through tenders, local awareness will matter less. Start with Half Moon, set your areas around neighbourhoods you know, and compare the scan count with your own enquiry notes before deciding whether to add cars.
