How often do you get paid for car advertising? Payout schedules explained

Car advertising pays monthly. Lunar pays per sticker on its own monthly cycle via Stripe — here's exactly when the money arrives and what can delay it.

Car advertising pays monthly — that's the industry standard, and it's how Lunar (lunarcar.me) works too. Each sticker you carry runs its own monthly cycle from the day it starts, and at the end of each cycle the payment for that sticker goes out through Stripe, the same payment platform that pays Uber and DoorDash workers. So if you install a sticker on the 12th, that sticker pays around the 12th of every month it keeps running. Carry more than one sticker and each one pays on its own schedule, which in practice means money landing more than once a month.

The monthly cycle, step by step

A sticker's clock starts when it's verified — you've installed it on the assigned door and submitted a photo showing it's on right. From there the month runs, you drive like you normally do, and you submit a quick weekly odometer photo so your mileage gets approved. When the cycle closes, Lunar tallies that sticker's base pay plus any bonuses you earned and sends the payout through Stripe. There's no invoice to file and no hours to log — the verification photos are the whole paper trail.

How much arrives each cycle

The base is $83.50 per sticker per month. Incentives stack on top of that — they add rather than compound: +5% for overnight parking visibility, +5% for keeping the car's condition verified, and +10% for driving past the 600-mile (about 900 km) monthly reference. Earn all three and a single sticker pays $100.20 a month. A four-door car carrying a full set typically lands between $334 and $400 a month, and the earnings estimator shows your own range before you ever commit to anything.

What can delay a payout

None of these cost you money you've already earned — they hold the payment until the missing piece is in. The fastest-paid drivers are simply the ones who treat the weekly odometer photo like brushing their teeth.

How Lunar's schedule compares

Rideshare and delivery apps pay weekly (or instantly, for a fee), but you're trading hours for every dollar. Wrap networks like Carvertise also pay monthly, on a single campaign cycle. Lunar's per-sticker cycles sit in between: monthly money, zero added hours, and because each sticker has its own start date, a multi-sticker car sees deposits spread across the month rather than one lump. Income arrives on top of driving you were already doing — that's the entire point of how Lunar works.

Taxes come sorted

Because payouts run through Stripe Connect, the tax paperwork is handled the way a proper platform should: Stripe collects your tax info during onboarding and files a 1099 in the US or a T4A in Canada at year end. You report the income; nobody's chasing paper receipts in February.

Frequently asked questions

Do I get paid weekly or monthly for car advertising?

Monthly. Each Lunar sticker runs its own monthly cycle from its verified start date and pays out at the end of that cycle via Stripe. Carrying several stickers means several payout dates spread across the month.

When does my first payment arrive?

About one month after your sticker is installed and verified, once your first cycle closes — provided your Stripe onboarding is complete and your weekly odometer photos were submitted.

Do I need to invoice anyone or track hours?

No. The install photo and weekly odometer photo are the entire verification. Lunar calculates the payout automatically and Stripe deposits it.

What happens if I miss a weekly odometer photo?

Unverified miles can't be approved, so the affected payout waits until your mileage is confirmed. You don't lose earned base pay — it just arrives after the verification catches up.

Is there a minimum payout or a fee to get paid?

No minimums, no fees, and no deposit — drivers never pay Lunar anything. A program that asks a driver for money is the classic sign of a car-advertising scam.
