Insurance Agents and Brokers: Can a Car Sticker Build Neighbourhood Trust?

People buy insurance from names they know. A neighbourhood car sticker starts at $500 a month for 2 cars. Here is how an agency can use it well.

Yes, a car sticker can suit an independent insurance agent or broker, because people buy insurance from someone they know and trust, and a Lunar circle sticker keeps your agency name familiar across the neighbourhoods you serve. Plans start at $500 a month for two cars, with no fee for the sticker.

Why insurance is a trust purchase

Most people do not shop for insurance for fun. They shop when they buy a car, move house, or get a renewal notice that jumped. At that moment they usually ask someone they know, or they pick a name they have seen before. For a local agency, being the familiar name is worth a lot, and it is slow to build with search ads alone, where you compete on price with the big national brands.

Agencies also serve a defined patch. Your clients live, work and drive in the same few communities, and word of mouth is the main engine. Advertising that stays in those communities fits better than a broad campaign that pays to reach people outside your licence area or your office's reach.

What a Lunar sticker is, and is not

A Lunar sticker is a small circle on the door of an everyday driver's car. It carries your agency name and one short line, plus a small QR code. You choose where the code sends people: your website, a phone number or an email address. Lunar counts scans and nothing more. It does not track calls, emails or visits, so ask every new client how they found you and keep your own tally.

It is awareness, not a quote engine. It will not replace your Google Business Profile, your reviews or your renewal calls. What it does is put your name in front of people repeatedly, so that when they need a policy, yours is a name they recognise.

A note on what you can say

Insurance is regulated, and the rules on advertising differ by province and state. Keep the sticker simple: your agency name, the kind of cover you place (home, auto, business) and a way to reach you. Leave out claims about savings, rates or approval, and check your licensing body's advertising rules before you approve a design. Lunar's team makes the sticker design and you approve it before anything prints.

Reach, as an estimate

The industry estimate for a wrapped vehicle on the road is up to 70,000 impressions a day, the top of the range credited to the OAAA and published by AdQuick and 4OVER4. Lunar applies that figure to every car. It is an estimate, not a count of people who looked, and a door circle is smaller than a full wrap. On that basis a car comes to about 2,100,000 estimated impressions in a 30-day month.

Half Moon (2 cars, $500 a month) works out to an estimated 4,200,000 impressions a month, about $0.12 per thousand. Full Moon (7 cars, $1,500 a month) works out to an estimated 14,700,000, about $0.10 per thousand. The two plans differ only in the number of cars and the price. How an agency can use it well

How the plans work

Plans have a 3- or 6-month term, billed monthly. A six-month term is 10% off every month for the same number of cars. Apart from the $50 deposit, nothing is charged until your first sticker is on a driver's car. The deposit counts toward your plan, or is refunded if no driver is matched within 7 days. Billing is per sticker: a sticker is billed for 30 days of verified driving, and an empty slot is simply not billed. More detail is on the pricing page.

Lunar's team matches drivers to businesses offer by offer. A driver has 48 hours to accept or decline, and once a driver accepts, the match is final and the sticker goes to print. The driver installs it from the instructions in the kit and sends a photo that a person reviews, then sends photos and an odometer reading each week. Drivers pay no deposit and no fee.

Is it right for your agency?

If your book grows through referrals and local reputation, a sticker that builds familiarity across your community is a reasonable fit. If you sell mainly through large employer programs or online comparison sites, local awareness will matter less. Start with Half Moon, set your areas around neighbourhoods you know, and compare the scan count with your own notes on where clients come from before deciding whether to add cars.
