SUV, Truck, or Sedan: Does Your Vehicle Change Car Advertising Earnings?
Pay per sticker is identical across vehicle types — what changes is the door count. Four doors means four earning spots; a two-door coupe carries two.
Here's the straight answer: Lunar pays by the sticker, and every sticker pays the same regardless of what it's stuck to. Your vehicle type doesn't change the rate; it changes the number of earning spots. Stickers go on doors, so a four-door SUV, crew-cab truck or sedan carries up to four campaigns at once (earning up to $500 a month), while a two-door coupe carries two. Beyond the door count, the differences between vehicle types are smaller than most people expect — but they're worth understanding before you apply.
The door math, plainly
- One sticker per door — front and rear, both sides. No hood, no roof, no tailgate.
- Four-door sedan, SUV or crew-cab truck: up to 4 spots → earn up to $500 a month.
- Two-door coupe or regular-cab truck: 2 spots.
- You choose how many spots to fill — there's no minimum, so a two-door driver can run one campaign and a four-door driver doesn't have to run four.
That's the whole earnings difference. The per-sticker rate and the payment schedule are identical across vehicle types — see our earnings page.
Does a bigger vehicle mean more impressions?
Less than you'd think. Estimated impressions are calculated from approved miles, a visibility factor for the door-circle format, and zone density — not from vehicle size. A sticker on an SUV door sits a little higher in traffic sightlines; a sedan's sits closer to pedestrian eye level at a crosswalk. These wash out. What genuinely moves impressions is where and how much the car drives: a sedan doing school runs and errands through dense neighbourhoods out-delivers a truck parked at a job site five days a week. If you want to maximize reach for the businesses on your doors, drive the miles you already drive — in the zones where people live and shop.
What each vehicle type should know
SUVs and crossovers
The sweet spot for most families: four doors, daily neighbourhood driving, and large flat door panels that make installs easy. Nothing extra to do — SUVs qualify exactly like sedans (12 years old or newer, valid licence and insurance, real VIN).
Pickup trucks
Crew cabs with four doors get four spots; regular cabs get two. The one wrinkle is commercial use: Lunar doesn't accept commercial vehicles, so a truck registered and insured as a personal vehicle is welcome, while a company work truck isn't. A personal truck that happens to haul lumber on weekends is fine. Tall door panels take the decal beautifully — just note the install photo needs the full circle visible, same as any car.
Sedans and hatchbacks
The workhorse of the network. Four doors, constant neighbourhood miles, and the most common install our verification team sees. Rideshare sedans are explicitly welcome — those miles count like any others, and the weekly odometer verification treats every kilometre the same.
Two-doors and small cars
Two spots instead of four halves the ceiling, but nothing else changes — same rate per sticker, same no-fees promise. For a student with a two-door commuting daily through a dense zone, two stickers of genuinely passive income is still two stickers of genuinely passive income.
What doesn't qualify, whatever the body style
- Vehicles older than 12 years
- Motorcycles and scooters — no door panels, no program
- Commercial-registered vehicles and anything already wrapped in advertising
- Cars without a valid VIN, licence, and insurance — every vehicle in the network is a verified, real car
The bottom line
Don't buy a different car for this — the program is built around driving you already do, in the vehicle you already own. Four doors give you the chance to earn up to $500 a month; two doors give you half the spots at the same honest rate; and in every case the money arrives without upfront costs, deposits, or fees. If your car is 12 years old or newer and insured, see what your doors are worth.
Frequently asked questions
Does an SUV or truck earn more than a sedan with Lunar?
Not per sticker — the rate is identical. Earnings depend on door count: four-door vehicles carry up to four stickers (earning up to $500 a month), two-doors carry two.
Do pickup trucks qualify for car advertising?
Personal trucks 12 years old or newer qualify; commercial-registered vehicles don't. Crew cabs get four sticker spots, regular cabs two.
Do bigger vehicles generate more impressions?
Vehicle size barely matters — impressions are estimated from approved miles, the door-decal visibility factor, and zone density. Where and how much you drive matters far more than what you drive.
Can I advertise on a two-door car?
Yes — two spots instead of four, same per-sticker pay, and no minimum number of campaigns.
